This correspondence highlights such a case - where exams from a London organisation were conducted at the Ballarat School of Mines. A selection of correspondence from Bunge Pty Ltd (Garden City flour Mills) to the Ballarat School of Mines. (.1a) White typed letter on Bunge letterhead relating to students in course milling undertaking examinations through the City and Guilds of London. The candidates were R. Chamberlin, B. Price, T. Boermans and G. Ellis. All were resident in Ballarat. (.1b) Typed letter on blue paper from A.G. Blake, head of examinations Division 1 at the City and Guilds of London Institute re examinations of students under the supervision of the Ballarat School of Mines. McMaster, G ...The Northern District School of Nursing opened in 1950 to address the issues around nurse recruitment, training and education that had previously been hospital based. The residential school was to provide theoretical and in-house education and practical training over three years. The students would also receive practical hands-on training in the wards of associated hospitals. The Northern District School of Nursing operated from Lister House, Rowan Street, Bendigo. It was the first independent school of nursing in Victoria and continued until it closed in 1989.School 59 27 Female Nurses are in uniform and 2 males. The main engine was an opposed piston type Harland & Wolff 6-620/ 1870 6 for the number of cylinders.. 620 for the cylinder bore and 1870 for the combined strokes of the main exhaust pistons in each cylinder. This engine was based no a Burmeister and Wain design but H & W gave these engines their own type designation. Sailed on board its maiden voyage to Australia via Casablanca Morocco where she collected her first load of phosphate. We sailed to Geelong via the Suez canal and the Port of Aden (Yemen) and Freemantle. The first load of phosphate was unloaded at Corio Bay (geelong) Formerly part of the collection of Melbourne shipping company, Howard Smith Ltd. This large 1914-1918 Honour Board was for many years at the back of the Dumosa and Towaninnie Hall stage.This is believed to be the only existing 1914-18 Honour Board Roll of Honour specifically for Dumosa and Towaninnie servicemen and women.Large First World War Honour Board of Dumosa and Towaninnie,(Wycheproof District). Top part is circular/arched and features appliques of raised grape vine with branches. The 46 military names are incribed in gold leaf in two columns.
